01 · The Credential

A Stamp Is a Credential. The Holder Just Isn’t a Person.

Issued by an authority. Bound to a single subject. Carrying a unique identifier, a signature and a status. Verifiable in the field, online or off. Everything that makes a national ID trustworthy, applied to a bottle, a carton or a can.

ONE OBJECT.
ONE IDENTITY.

Rectangular Strip

16 × 100 mm

A tear-through security strip that passes over the closure and down both sides of the neck, so the seal is destroyed the moment the container is opened.

  • Applied per bottle in a controlled, verifiable manner
  • Tamper-evidence built into the application geometry, not just the substrate

Circular Cap Stamp

19 mm round

Applied to the cap or equivalent tamper point for beer and other beverages, with the QR positioned for reliable line-scanning and field verification.

  • Any attempt to open the container defeats the stamp
  • Same layered security approach, adapted to the format

Layered Security Features

Visible defences the public can check, covert defences an inspector can check, and a cryptographic defence nobody can forge.

Holographic & Nano-Optical

Visible, instantly recognisable optical elements that cannot be reproduced by conventional printing.

Security Inks

Colour-changing and UV-fluorescent inks for both overt public checking and covert inspector verification.

Microprinting

Fine-line detail that degrades visibly under photocopying or scan-and-reprint attempts.

Unique Serialisation

Every stamp carries its own serialised identifier — no two are alike, anywhere in the programme.

Cryptographic QR

A QR code cryptographically linked to the stamp record, readable by any authorised device in the field.

OutcomeBreak the stamp and you break the seal. Copy the stamp and the hash gives you away.

The Film

Forty-Six Seconds, Port to Shelf.

From the container terminal to the production line to the moment a shopper checks a bottle on the shelf — the whole traceability chain, end to end.

Narrated in English and French. Switch language at any point — the film keeps its place.

Narration

OutcomeOne stamp, followed from the port of entry to the point of sale.

02 · Ordering

From Requisition to Allocated Serials.

Producers raise orders, the Authority approves and prices them, and the allocated stamp ranges are written to the ledger the moment they exist — one workflow, no side channels.

Guided Requisitions

A two-step order workflow that takes a producer from product selection to submitted requisition without training — multi-batch orders in a single pass.

  • Multi-batch requisitions raised and tracked as one order
  • Real-time cost calculation as quantities and categories change

Approval & Invoicing

The Authority reviews, approves and prices each requisition, with invoices raised against the order and carried through to fulfilment.

  • Orders overview showing status across every producer at once
  • Invoice management tied directly to the issued stamp ranges

Range Allocation & Anchoring

Once a stamp range is allocated to an order, the allocation is written to the ledger — a time-stamped record of exactly which serials belong to which producer.

  • Serial ranges bound to producer and order at the point of allocation
  • Tamper-proof record from the first moment a stamp exists

OutcomeEvery stamp in the programme traceable to the order that created it.

03 · Producer Portal

Ordering Stamps Should Feel Like Ordering Anything Else.

A self-service commerce portal for every authorised manufacturer and importer — onboarded once, with their own catalogue, users and order history.

Producer Registry

Every authorised manufacturer and importer in the programme, onboarded once and managed centrally — with their own profile, users and permissions.

  • Structured onboarding for both small and large producers
  • Producer profile carries SKUs, users and active stamp batches in one place

SKU Catalogue

Each producer's products are catalogued against the categories the regulation covers, so the right stamp format and duty apply automatically at order time.

  • Product categorisation aligned to the regulatory schedule
  • SKU-level control over which stamp type each product takes

E-Commerce Ordering

Producers order stamps the way they order anything else — a familiar cart-and-checkout flow, priced live, submitted for approval in the same session.

  • Self-service ordering removes the paperwork loop with the Authority
  • Every order traceable back to the user who raised it

Application at production-line speed

Small and Large Producers

The programme distinguishes producers by annual output and line speed, so onboarding, ordering limits and application method suit the operation rather than forcing one model onto everyone.

Categorised by Regulation

Products are categorised against the regulatory schedule — tobacco, beverages, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and more — so the correct stamp and duty follow automatically.

OutcomeProducers serve themselves. The Authority stops being a helpdesk.

04 · Stock Control

Know Where Every Stamp Is — and How Fast They're Going.

Stamps are fiscal instruments. NovaTrace tracks them like inventory and reconciles them like money — issued, held, applied, returned, expired.

Stamp Batch Registry

A system-wide view of every batch in the programme — issued, in transit, held at a producer, applied, returned or expired.

  • Active stamp inventories tracked per producer, not just in aggregate
  • Full batch history from allocation through to application

Burn-Rate Analytics

Consumption is measured continuously, so the Authority sees which producers are drawing down stock and how fast — before anyone runs out.

  • Warehouse stock levels tracked against real consumption rates
  • Usage-versus-orders trending across the programme

Automated Replenishment

Procurement alerts fire automatically when stock falls below the cover the burn rate implies — replenishment becomes a decision, not a discovery.

  • Threshold alerts driven by actual burn rate, not fixed reorder points
  • Procurement planning built on programme-wide demand, not guesswork

Returns, Credits & Expiry

Damaged, surplus and expired stamps are returned through a controlled process with credit notes raised against them — so the count always reconciles.

  • Returns intake captured in the field and matched centrally
  • Credit-note management keeps financial and physical stock in step

Field & Line Capture

Pistol-grip handhelds read 1D and 2D barcodes on stamps, cartons and pallets; an enhanced model adds NFC/RFID for contactless reads without line of sight. Fixed industrial scanners cover the production line itself.

  • Serial and batch data validated against the central registry as it is scanned
  • Shrink-wrapped pallets and boxes readable without unpacking

Offline by Default

Warehouses and plants lose connectivity constantly. Transactions are stored locally and synchronised on reconnection, with a server heartbeat maintaining the link when it exists.

  • No data loss when the network drops mid-shift
  • Offline stamp verification re-computes the hash locally against the QR payload

Every Action Attributed

Operators switch between receiving, transfers, loading and unloading, verification checkpoints and random inspections — and every action is logged against the person who took it.

  • Operator ID, timestamp and location recorded on every scan
  • Random-inspection mode for enforcement teams in the market

Field verification against the central registry

OutcomeOne scan answers it: genuine, or not — and who stamped it, and when.

06 · Blockchain

The Official Proof of Stamping.

When a batch is submitted for stamping, its details are combined into a record, cryptographically signed, and written to the ledger. That entry — not a row in a database somebody can edit — is the proof.

What Gets Written

The stamp record

Unique Identifier
Code assigned to the batch or product
Producer
The company or artisan responsible
Batch / Serial
Serialised number for the unit
Stamping Date
Exact timestamp of stamping
Authorised Stamper
Identity of the agent who validated it
Product Type
Category or nature of the product
Cryptographic Hash
SHA-256 fingerprint of the record
Status
Stamped, rejected, pending or cancelled

A fingerprint, not a copy

Every relevant field is passed through SHA-256 to produce a unique digital fingerprint of the record. Change any part of the underlying data — one digit of a serial, one character of a producer name — and the hash that comes out is completely different.

The hash is stored on the ledger alongside the record. Tampering doesn’t need to be detected by an auditor noticing something odd; it falls out of the arithmetic.

At the point of stamping

A QR code is generated at the same moment as the record, linking straight back to it — so the physical object carries the route to its own proof.

Two Ways to Verify

Checked Against the Ledger

Online

The app reads the product details and hash from the QR, queries the ledger for the stored hash, re-hashes the details it just read, and compares.

  • Match confirms the stamp genuine
  • Mismatch flags it as tampered or counterfeit, on the spot

Checked Without a Signal

Offline

The QR is scanned with no live connection. The embedded product data is re-hashed locally and compared against the hash carried in the payload or synchronised earlier.

  • Inspectors verify in markets with no reliable internet
  • Same cryptographic test, no degraded fallback mode

OutcomeAuditability that doesn’t depend on trusting whoever holds the database.

07 · Governance

One System. Three Kinds of User.

The Authority, the stamp printers and the producers all work inside NovaTrace — with strict separation between what each of them can see and do.

Multi-Tenant by Design

The Authority, stamp printers and producers work in the same system without seeing each other's data — separate spaces, one source of truth.

  • Tenant-scoped access so no producer sees another producer's stock or orders
  • The Authority retains the programme-wide view across all of them

Roles & Permissions

A granular permission model with a role-based access-control matrix — every module and action scoped to the roles that should hold it.

  • User directory and role management built into the console
  • Permissions granted per module, not per login

Two-Factor Authentication

Secure login with 2FA across the platform, because the people ordering and issuing fiscal stamps are exactly the people worth impersonating.

  • Enforced at the point of login, for every tenant
  • Paired with the ledger's record of who authorised each stamping

OutcomeEveryone in one system. Nobody in anybody else’s data.
