ePassport SDK
ICAO-compliant ePassport and eID chip reading, personalisation and verification — with the chip's signed portrait matched against a live face.
Overview
Axon's ePassport technology covers the full document lifecycle — from PKI-secured personalisation and chip writing through to NFC-based chip reading and cryptographic verification. The chip carries a government-signed facial image, so it can be paired directly with face matching: the portrait read from the chip becomes the reference photo, rather than a camera shot of the printed page. Combined with liveness detection, this binds a cryptographically verified document to the live person presenting it — one of the strongest forms of identity proof achievable remotely.
Use Cases
- Remote onboarding at document-grade assurance
- Border and immigration verification
- High-value account opening and KYC
- SIM registration against a chip-verified identity
- Re-authentication at SIM swap or account recovery
